The Salt of Your Skin
The sultry title track to my solo album, The Salt Of Your Skin (2002) with gorgeous oboe d'amore by Robbie Hunsinger.
I was saved by the depth of your eyes
The brush of your cheek and the weight of your arms
I steadied myself in the scent of your breath
The hollow of your throat, my ear to your heart
The back of your hand barely touching my skin
The round of your back to the flat of my hand

And every night let this new world begin
With my head on your shoulder and the salt of your skin

Immerse ourselves in this world without hours
Who I was slowly falling away
Making me new again, forged in the fire
The glide of our skin over sinew and muscle
The course of blood singing through each of our veins
I feel my heart welling, I feel my heart welling

And every night let this new world begin
With my head on your shoulder and the salt of your skin
